Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Foundation
The OAGC FOUNDATION is a tax-exempt organization formed in 1984 to help carry out educational and charitable activities of the Association. From interest earned on tax-exempt contributions, the Foundation already is funding annual horticulture/floriculture scholarships for students in any Ohio technical school or college.
Monies are raised by: Outright gifts; memorial gifts; incremental gifts; special gifts; sustaining donor gifts; fund raisers, etc.
Monies contributed to the OAGC Foundation are tax deductible. An individual may become a Patron by contributing $50.00 or more a year. A Supporting Patron is a non-member of OAGC who contributes $50.00 or more a year to the Foundation.
A Life Patron contributes $500.00 or more – a one time contribution going into the OAGC Foundation. This amount is also tax deductible.
Mohican School in the Out of Doors
Donated over $25,000 for their first permanent building: Since that time OAGC has added to the donations for various projects bringing the total to over $30,000.
Since it’s beginning in 1965, over 160,000 students have learned more about their environment at the Mohican School in the Out-of-Doors. Mohican is an extension of a classroom held outside. Teachers from participating schools work together with Mohican staff in selecting the curriculum, making this experience an extension of their classroom activities. Programs lasting 3,4 or 5 days offer participants hands on classes in such subjects as astronomy, meteorology, geology, ecology, conservation, waste management, Living history, creative writing, etc.
As the school outgrew the church campsites it rented, the Board of Trustees determined it was time to build their own facility. In 1996 land was purchased in Richland County near Butler, Oh and the first building, a field trip center, was completed. In 1998 Phase 2 saw the student dormitory, classrooms and dining room completed. Phase 3 has just broken ground for the teacher dormitory, an adult workshop area, recreational field, pond, maple sugar shack and shelter house.

Ohio State University Scholarship Fund
Ohio State University Horticultural Scholarship Fund, a completed project, provides annual scholarships for two, third-year horticulture students at OSU.
Victor H Ries Fellowship Fund
At Ohio State University, this fund was started in 1956 in honor of Professor Ries for his guidance in organizing OAGC. The interest from this fund is used by worthy graduate students for further education in the field of botany. Over $40,000 has been contributed to this fund.
